Italian Design has always been synonymous of excellence worldwide, thanks to the high quality of the materials, the great creativity and innovation of Italian designers, the respect for the environment during the production phases as well as the care of graphics, advertising and packaging. Conceived by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in collaboration with the Triennale di Milano and the Salone del Mobile, Italian Design Day (IDD) is an international event with a worldwide scope. 100 “ambassadors of Italian design”, including architects, entrepreneurs, journalists, teachers and, of course, designers, will promote projects of excellence on the same day in over 100 cities around the world. After the great success of the first edition in 2017, the second edition in March 2018 is dedicated to the relationship between design and sustainability, drawing inspiration from the Broken Nature theme chosen for the XXII International Exhibition of the Milan Triennale in 2019.
Sustainable policies are now, in fact, a central theme both in the action of governments and in the choices of the private sector and Italy, world leader in the design sector, intends to present ideas, projects and quality solutions, promoting an international debate on the relationship between man and nature. Focusing on this theme, the Italian Design day 2018 aims to provide critical tools to rethink habits and lifestyles to look to the future with new awareness and sensitivity.
